Job summary

Applied Materials is seeking an early-career Engineer for the Applied Global Services (AGS) Component Engineering role in Santa Clara. This onsite position drives execution across engineering disciplines, interprets technical data, and supports quick, data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate with engineers, operations, and suppliers, reading drawings, building trackers and dashboards, and contributing to NPI and product transfers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • 2-4 years of experience; ideal for early career candidates.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with analytics, including creating trackers, dashboards, or data models to support engineering, operational, or program decisions.
  • Onsite work required; travel 10% of the Time.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment that requires speed, prioritization, and quick decision-making.
  • Analytical mindset with experience creating trackers, forms, or basic dashboards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Technical Program Manager for engineering projects and engineering change initiatives tied to revenue and operations.
  • Lead and run engineering meetings, track action items, and drive timely decision‑making across cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with engineers to interpret drawings and technical data, communicate requirements, and resolve issues quickly.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and product transfer programs, including coordination between engineering, operations, and suppliers.
  • Compile, track, and analyze engineering and operational data to support decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with quality, surface technology, packaging, refurbishment, sustaining engineering, and obsolescence teams.
  • Supports AGS -OPS assigned sPDP projects.

The Applied Global Services (AGS), Component Engineering role is a fast‑paced, onsite role responsible for driving execution across multiple engineering disciplines. The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
