Job summary

CHS Inc. in Mitchell, SD is seeking an Agronomy Operations Intern for Summer 2027 to work closely with customers, deliver insights, and support agronomy operations.

The internship can start as early as Spring 2027 and extend through the summer, with paid compensation and exposure to real-world industry practices. You will gain hands-on experience in scouting, crop protection, nutrients, seed, and field operations while learning from experienced professionals and mentors within CHS.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in Ag Business, Crop Science, or other Agriculture related degree program.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software.
  • Agriculture experience or background knowledge helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Gain knowledge of general agronomy skills including scouting, crop protection products, crop nutrients, seed, and application procedures.
  • Perform all agronomy and seed operations.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory quality.
  • Assist with repairs and preventative maintenance for agronomy equipment including legs, conveyors, towers, vehicles, sprayers, floaters, trucks, etc.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist customers as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with state, local, and CHS Environmental and Safety policy.

Responsibilities


  • Gain knowledge of general agronomy skills such as scouting, crop protection products, crop nutrient products, seed, custom application procedures, mixing procedures, truck driving, and delivering product.

  • Perform all agronomy/seed operations.

  • Monitor and maintain quality of inventory.

  • Regulate and periodic housecleaning processes and record keeping.

  • Assist with repairs and preventative maintenance for all agronomy equipment including legs, conveyors, towers, vehicles, sprayers, floaters, trucks, etc.

  • Provide excellent customer service and assist customers as needed.

  • Work in and keep an environment that is compliant with state, local, and CHS Environmental and Safety policy.


Minimum Qualifications (required)


  • Currently enrolled in Ag Business, Crop Science, or other Agriculture related degree program.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software.


Additional Qualifications


  • Agriculture experience or background knowledge helpful.

  • Previous internship experience helpful, but not required.


CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.


If eligibility requirements are met, you may participate in 401(k).
