Job summary

Vylor, Inc. is seeking a responsible Agronomy IPM Technician to support research and seed production programs. You will execute IPM strategies in open-field environments, apply pesticides safely, and supervise seasonal staff to ensure quality pest control and records accuracy.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in agricultural operations, strong leadership, fluent Spanish, and proficiency with data tools. This role requires overtime as workload dictates and is on-site in Salinas, CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Entomology, Plant Protection, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in agricultural research, seed production, or commercial farming operations.
• 2+ years supervising seasonal or temporary employees in agriculture.
• Experience managing agrochemicals and recognizing main pests of corn and soybean; familiarity with scouting practices.
• Ability to perform dosage calculations, unit conversions, and other basic math tasks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Power Apps, and digital data collection tools.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Fluent in spoken and written Spanish; basic to intermediate English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy across open-field operations.
• Execute daily insecticide applications using backpack sprayers and specialized equipment.
• Prepare and mix pesticides according to product labels and regulatory guidelines.
• Ensure SOPs, quality and safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Schedule and coordinate pesticide applications respecting REIs and timelines.
• Perform field inspections to assess treatment effectiveness and pest control performance.
• Supervise seasonal staff and coordinate pest management activities.
• Maintain accurate records with company software and digital tools.
• Keep equipment, vehicles, and inventory in good condition.

This position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement.Responsibilities - What You’ll Do:Execute daily insecticide applications in open-field environments using backpack sprayers and other specialized application equipment while adhering to safety guidelines and quality standards.Prepare and mix pesticides according to product labels, company procedures, Worker Protection Standards (WPS), and environmental regulations.Responsible for compliance with standard operational procedures to ensure quality and effective results of the pest control treatments.Schedule and coordinate pesticide applications while respecting restricted-entry intervals (REIs) and project timelines.Perform field inspections and evaluations to assess treatment effectiveness and pest control performance.Support mechanical and cultural pest management activities, including insect trapping, pest removal, and implementation of physical barriers.Supervise small and large groups of seasonal employees responsible for pesticide applications and related activities.Ensure personnel, equipment, and supplies are available and ready to support daily work plans.Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environmentMaintain accurate records of pesticide applications and field activities using company software, Microsoft Office applications, and Power Apps.Keep storage facilities, application equipment, tools, and supplies in clean, organized, and operational condition.Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs proactively.Ensure corporate vehicles, trailers, and equipment are maintained, cleaned, and ready for fieldQualifications- What You’ll Need:Bachelor's or associate degree preferred in Agronomy, Crop Science, Entomology, Plant Protection, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered.3+ years of experience in agricultural research, seed production or commercial farming operations preferred.2+ years of experience supervising seasonal or temporary employees in the agricultural sector preferred.Experience managing agrochemicals, recognizing main pests of corn and soybean and familiar with scouting practices.Ability to perform dosage calculations, unit conversions, and other basic mathematical tasks.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Power Apps, and digital data collection tools.Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Fluent in spoken and written Spanish.
