Agronomist Intern
Crop Scouting
- Stages crops as well as identifying pests, nutrient deficiencies, and evaluating overall crop conditions.
- Collect soil and plant tissue samples to be analyzed for deficiencies and overall plant health.
- Complete scouting reports on a timely basis and send back to the sales agronomist on a timely basis for further followup.
- Communicate with the grower after a field has been scouted. Give the customer an overall summary of the crop and conditions.
Marketing and Promotions
- Assist with Key Cooperative promotional and marketing activities.
- Assist the sales agronomist field days and other grower events.
- Install and maintain field signage such as, but not limited to, seed corn, seed bean, and SUSTAIN signs.
Customer Service
- Assist sales agronomists and locational staff in preparing and delivering product to customers.
- Keep the location manager informed of operational, customer, vendors, or employee issues that may arise.
- Promote the business with existing and potential customers.
- Project a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times; exhibit good customer relations skills.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist with loading and unloading outbound and inbound inventory such as seed, chemicals, fertilizer, and feed.
- Assist in maintaining Key Cooperative facilities and equipment.
- Read and follow company employee policies. Accept additional responsibilities as directed by sales & marketing manager, location manager, and sales agronomist.
- Continuously follow the company safety guidelines, policies, and safety programs established by Key Cooperative.
Education and/or Experience
- Attending a four-year college or university; or a minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
