  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL may be preferred for field service.

JobOverview:

The Agriculture Service Technicianis responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of agriculturalmachinery and equipment. This includes tractors, harvesters, irrigationsystems, and other specialized farm equipment. The role requires strongtechnical skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to provide high-qualityservice to ensure equipment is operating efficiently in the field. The idealcandidate will be customer-focused, able to troubleshoot complex mechanicalissues, and comfortable working in various weather conditions.

KeyResponsibilities:

Diagnosticsand Repair:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic,electrical, and computerized systems in agricultural equipment, includingtractors, combines, tillage machinery, and other farm implements.
  • Troubleshoot issues such as engine failures,transmission problems, electrical malfunctions, and hydraulic systembreakdowns using diagnostic tools and service manuals.
  • Perform field service repairs on-site when required,including emergency breakdowns, to minimize downtime for the customer.

RoutineMaintenance:

  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes,filter replacements, greasing, and tire servicing.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all types ofagricultural machinery to prevent major breakdowns and ensure optimalperformance.
  • Calibrate, adjust, and test equipment to meetmanufacturer specifications and ensure it is functioning correctly.

EquipmentInstallation and Setup:

  • Assemble and install new agricultural equipment,ensuring proper configuration and functionality according to manufacturerinstructions.
  • Set up GPS, automated steering systems, and otherprecision farming technology, providing training to operators on how touse these systems.

CustomerInteraction:

  • Communicate with customers to explain the nature ofmechanical issues, provide repair options, and offer cost estimates.
  • Educate customers on proper machine operation,maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting techniques to extend equipmentlife.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-qualityrepairs and timely service, with a focus on minimizing equipment downtime.

Inventoryand Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate service records, including partsused, repairs performed, and maintenance activities for each piece of equipmentserviced.
  • Order necessary parts and manage inventory to ensurethat common repair items are readily available.
  • Keep updated on the latest technology and repairtechniques by attending training sessions and reviewing technicalbulletins.

Safetyand Compliance:

  • Follow all safety protocols, including the properhandling of hazardous materials and the use of personal protectiveequipment (PPE).
  • Adhere to OSHA regulations and industry standards toensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Safely operate tools, machinery, and vehicles duringrepairs and service tasks.

Qualificationsand Skills:

  • Experience:
  • Experience as an agriculture service technician or ina related mechanical role, preferably working with agriculturalmachinery.
  • Familiarity with major agricultural equipment brandssuch as John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, or Kubota.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a deep understandingof diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, andcomputer-controlled equipment.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools used totroubleshoot and repair modern agricultural machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals,blueprints, and electrical/hydraulic schematics.
  • Problem Solving:
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to quickly andaccurately identify the root cause of mechanical issues.
  • Ability to develop effective solutions to repair andmaintain equipment, minimizing downtime and costs for the customer.
  • Communication:
  • Strong verbal communication skills to explaintechnical issues to customers in a clear and professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team,with a commitment to high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment (up to 50lbs), work in various weather conditions, and perform physicallydemanding tasks such as kneeling, bending, and climbing.
  • Willingness to work in field conditions, sometimesoutside normal business hours, to provide emergency service.

Education& Certifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certification or completion of anagricultural mechanics or heavy equipment repair program preferred.
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications from brands likeJohn Deere, Case IH, or Kubota is an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license is required; a commercialdriver’s license (CDL) may be preferred for field service.
