University of Kentucky in La Grange, KY seeks an Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Oldham County to lead educational programs across agriculture, horticulture and natural resources. The agent will develop proficiency in local citizens, provide expert answers, and create demonstrations and trails to showcase best practices.

Responsibilities include coordinating advisory groups, fostering community involvement and partnering with local government and services.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing with groups and individuals and through mass media.
• Ability to plan and teach educational programs.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to serve as a positive role model.

Responsabilités

• Develop the agricultural & horticultural proficiency of local citizens through educational programs.
• Provide agricultural expertise to answer questions and solve problems related to agriculture, horticulture and natural resources.
• Develop field trails, test demonstrations and result demonstrations in related areas.
• Utilize and/or develop councils, advisory groups, and committees to facilitate community involvement in programming.
• Share responsibility in community programming around leadership development, local government, and community economic development.
• Disseminate practical information regarding urban agricultural and environmental practices and the local food systems; emphasise horticulture and diversified agriculture.
