Job summary

The Center for AI Safety (CAIS) in San Francisco is seeking a technical, builder-oriented Product Manager to take full ownership of developing an agentic product. You’ll get fluent quickly, define the roadmap, prioritize ruthlessly, and drive end-to-end execution with hands-on work on the agentic architecture using AI coding tools.

This isn’t a spec-and-handoff role. You’ll build and dig into the product, iterate with researchers and partners, and own outcomes in a fast-scaling startup

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Product Management experience on technical products or AI features.
• Hands-on coding/engineering experience; shipped code before PM transition.
• Fluency with modern AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot).
• Strong technical fluency with SQL, Python, APIs, notebooks, or Git.
• Proven ability to write clear PRDs and ship 0→1 or scale products.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of an agentic product need and define/build from scratch or speed up existing work.
• Define go-forward roadmap and prioritise builds; manage tradeoffs across projects.
• Drive execution, iterate based on user feedback, usage data, and testing.
• Prototype and validate changes using AI-assisted coding tools.
• Partner cross-functionally to ship and iterate quickly.
• Conduct user research with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Own metrics and outcomes; use experimentation to validate decisions.
• Represent the user in demos, briefings, and customer conversations.
