Job summary

The Community Place of Greater Rochester is seeking an Agency Driver to safely transport clients and provide exceptional customer service, ensuring dignity and independence for those we serve. This part-time role offers 25 hours per week (Mon–Fri, 3pm–8pm) with occasional weekend hours and a pay rate of $16.50 per hour.

Responsibilities include client pickups, safe driving, vehicle maintenance, map reading, and adhering to schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and have an excellent driving record.
• CPR/First Aid certification is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a driver for the agencies, including pickups, deliveries, transportation of clients, and other errands.
• Drive safely with full compliance to NYS traffic regulations and seat belt rules.
• Maintain agency vehicle(s) including tires, battery, oil, fluids, service checks, and brakes.
• Keep vehicle interior and exterior clean and maintained.
• Pickup and drop off consumers at scheduled locations following time schedules.
• Read maps or GPS and follow directions.
• Regulate vehicle environment for passenger comfort.
• Report accidents, defects, or mechanical issues to supervision promptly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

As a Driver, you will play an essential role in supporting our mission by safely transporting individuals while providing exceptional customer service and treating every passenger with dignity and respect. More than just driving, you will help ensure those we serve have access to the programs, services, and opportunities that enhance their independence and quality of life.

Work Schedule: Part-Time, 25 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 3pm – 8pm; occasional weekend hours)

Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour

Essential Job Duties

• Serve as a driver for the agencies, which includes, but is not limited to pick-ups, deliveries, transportation of clients, and other designated errands.
• Conduct transportation duties safely with full compliance to NYS traffic regulations and with specific emphasis on seat belt regulations and no standing in the aisle.
• Responsible for maintenance of agency vehicle(s) by regularly checking tires, battery, oil fluid levels, service check-ups, alignments, brakes, etc.
• Responsible for the upkeep of the vehicle’s interior and exterior.
• Pick up and drop off consumers at regularly scheduled neighborhood locations, following strict time schedules.
• Read maps and/or GPS and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
• Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.
• Notify supervisors of any accidents or incidents and are responsible for reporting any perceived defects and/or mechanical problems to the IDD Director immediately.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and have an excellent driving record.
• Certification in CPR/First Aid is highly desired.

Knowledge, Skill And Abilities

• Familiarity with the city of Rochester geographical and street locations.
• Demonstrated ability to relate and interact with staff and consumers of diverse cultural, racial, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Must be willing to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
