Job summary

Empower U is a rapidly growing in-home mental health organization providing respite services for youth with developmental disabilities. The Personal Care Assistant role involves traveling to multiple program locations in New Jersey, with shifts from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM or 2:00/2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

Responsibilities include diaper changes, assisting children with special needs, and maintaining safety and engagement in a supportive group setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a Personal Care Assistant.
• At least 6 months’ experience with children with developmental disabilities.
• CPR certification is required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within a 10–15 mile radius.
• Working smartphone to access HHAX applications.
• CNA, PCA, or Home Health Aide certification.
• Experience with children or individuals with disabilities (2+ years).
• Fluency in a second language.

• Travel between sites across Garfield, Hohokus, Chatham, Orange, and Belleville.
• Daily care support including diaper changing and hygiene needs.
• Work with children with special needs following individualized strategies.
• Provide full-time (11:00 AM–5:30 PM) or part-time (2:00/2:30 PM–5:30 PM) coverage.
• Engage children in daily activities and ensure safety.
• Collaborate with staff to maintain a structured environment.

We provide high-quality Respite Services for individuals ages 5–21 during after-school, evening, and weekend hours. Position Summary:

AAS: Involves traveling to different locations. Hours are 11:00 AM–5:30 PM, or part time can be 2:00/2:30 PM–5:30 PM. Responsibilities include changing diapers, working with children with special needs, etc. Locations are Garfield, Hohokus, Chatham, Orange, and Belleville.

Key Responsibilities:

• Travel Between Sites — Support youth across multiple program locations, including Garfield, Hohokus, Chatham, Orange, and Belleville.
• Daily Care Support — Assist with diaper changing and general hygiene needs as required.
• Special Needs Support — Work directly with children with special needs, following individualized strategies and staff guidance.
• Program Hours — Provide coverage during full-time hours (11:00 AM–5:30 PM) or part-time hours (2:00/2:30 PM–5:30 PM).
• Child Engagement — Participate in daily activities, maintain safety, and support positive interactions within the group setting.
• Team Collaboration — Work alongside staff to maintain a structured, supportive environment for all youth.

Qualifications:

• Fluency in a second language

Location:

Bergen County, Morris County, Essex County, New Jersey (In-Person)

Compensation:

$22.00 per hour
