Job summary

Upper Room KC is seeking a Youth Development Leader to support our licensed Afterschool Program. This part-time role plans engaging activities and ensures a safe, inclusive environment for youth under supervision of the Site Director.

Ideal candidates are at least 21, experienced with youth, and possess strong communication and teamwork skills. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is required, along with background screening and compliance with Missouri DHSS rules.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Experience working with youth preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lead and engage children in structured activities.
• CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Must pass background screening and meet Missouri DHSS child care requirements.
• Medical and TB risk assessments required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead recreational and educational activities (sports, arts & crafts, academic support, social development).
• Ensure activities are age-appropriate and aligned with program goals.
• Provide direct supervision at all times — student safety is the top priority.
• Respond to emergencies and administer first aid as needed.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
• Follow all state licensing regulations and organizational policies.
• Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training.
