Job summary

Launch Math & Science Centers is seeking part-time instructors to teach afterschool STEM classes in St. Albans, Queens, Mondays and Tuesdays. Curriculum and materials are provided, and classes include Scratch, Potent Potions, High Voltage Heroes, and the I Wanna Be… series.

As an instructor you will deliver project‑based enrichment, engage students, monitor progress, and communicate with program coordinators. Prior tutoring in math/science and a passion for teaching are valued.

Qualifications

• Subject matter expertise in related sciences, tech, or math.
• Passion and skill for building hands-on projects with kids.
• Strong desire to teach children.

Responsibilities

• Provide top quality instruction utilizing Launch methods, curriculum, and materials.
• Engage students enthusiastically during instructional sessions.
• Help students gain confidence in their ability to learn and succeed.
• Assess and improve classroom experience.
• Maintain regular communications with Launch Program Coordinators.

Launch provides inspiring afterschool programs by merging innovative curriculum with an engaging learning experience to foster appreciation and generate excitement for STEM topics. Designed for kids ranging from toddlers to tweens, Launch’s unique programs spark each child’s intrinsic desire to learn.

The company is hiring part-time instructors to to teach afterschool classes on Mondays and Tuesdays in St. Albans, Queens.

Launch Instructors lead project based enrichment classes focused on STEM. Examples of STEM classes include (but are not limited to): Coding with Scratch, Potent Potions, High Voltage Heroes, and our "I Wanna Be..." series featuring Engineer, Game Maker, and Sports Doctor!

As a Launch Instructor you are expected to:

• Provide top quality instruction utilizing proven Launch methods, curriculum, and provided materials
• Enthusiastically engage students during instructional sessions
• Help students gain confidence in their ability to learn and succeed
• Constantly assess and consider ways to improve classroom experience
• Maintain regular communications with the Launch Program Coordinators

• For STEM classes, subject matter expertise in related sciences, tech, or math; A passion and skill for building hands-on projects with kids.
• Strong desire to teach children
• Personable, friendly, reliable and communicative
• Previous experience working with students as a tutor or in a similar capacity
• Most important, the belief that every student can learn and love math and science

• $25 per hour, with St. Albans assignments approximately 3.5 hours in duration
• For STEM classes, all curriculum and materials are provided (you do not need to create lesson plans)
• Part-time position
