Job summary

Hebrew Educational Society in Brooklyn, NY seeks an Activity Specialist for Project Read / Math to plan and implement literacy and mathematics lessons aligned with program objectives. You will provide academic support using evidence-based instructional strategies and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Hours are Monday through Friday from 2:20 PM to 5:30 PM, totaling 3+ hours daily. Teaching certification is required with experience in Project Read or structured literacy

Qualifications

• Teaching certification is required.
• Experience teaching Project Read or another structured literacy program and/or elementary mathematics.
• Demonstrated expertise in literacy and mathematics instruction.
• Experience working with elementary-aged students in a classroom or afterschool setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement literacy and mathematics lessons aligned with program objectives.
• Provide academic support using evidence-based instructional strategies.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of participants.
• Monitor participant progress and communicate outcomes with the Content Specialist.
• Create a positive, engaging, and academically supportive learning environment.
