Job summary

LaAmistad is seeking an Afterschool Driver in Atlanta, GA for part-time afternoon work. You will operate vans to transport up to 14 students to and from afterschool programs, ensuring safety and good customer service. Hours are Mon-Thu 1:30-6:00 pm, about 20 hours weekly, with potential for additional trips.

Responsibilities include vehicle inspections, adherence to traffic laws, and coordinating routes with the afterschool manager. Must be 25+, have a valid license, and pass background checks.

Qualifications

  • Must be 25 or older.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass background, drug and alcohol tests.
  • Good physical health and ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Operate a vehicle safely and efficiently to transport passengers to various destinations.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
  • Inspect the vehicle before and after each trip to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Manage Student behavior and report any misconduct.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle interior.
  • Communicate with the afterschool manager regarding routes and schedules.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required.

Afterschool Driver

As a LaAmistad Driver, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our community, ensuring students arrive on time, safely, and ready to learn. If you’re passionate about helping others and want flexible afternoon hours, this role is the perfect fit.

The driver is responsible for operating vans and/or small buses and transporting up to 14 students safely to LaAmistad Afterschool and/or home from Afterschool. Using a checklist, you will be expected to ensure a clean and mechanically sound vehicle, follow traffic rules and regulations, and provide excellent customer service to our students and families. This position is part time.

Reports to: Operations Assistant

Hours May Vary:

  • Mon-Thu 1:30-6:00 pm
  • Roughly 20 hours per week
  • Additional hours may be available to cover field trips or substitute driving when needed.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good physical health and ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations.
  • Good problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Work with the Operations Team to perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Recommended
  • Work with staff and volunteers to tutor and mentor students between drop offs.
Preferred but not required
  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • Knowledge/experience working with the LatinX community.
