Job summary

Flatbush Development Corporation seeks an Activity Specialist to design, implement, and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate afterschool activities for K–8 students in a school-based program in Brooklyn.

The role focuses on participant supervision, youth development, and growth aligned with DYCD, DOH, and DOE guidelines, fostering creativity, academic growth, and SEL through structured lessons and culminating projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience with school-age youth.
• Experience designing and facilitating structured activities for K–8 in Art, Dance, STEM, or related fields.
• Knowledge of youth development, SEL, and trauma-informed practice.
• Excellent communication, organizational and classroom management skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification and OCFS/DYCD training compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement age-appropriate activities aligned with DYCD/DOH/DOE guidelines.
• Supervise participants and ensure safety and inclusivity.
• Facilitate Arts, STEM, Literacy, Recreation, and Enrichment activities.
• Support youth development through social-emotional learning and trauma-informed approaches.
