Job summary

St. Joseph Catholic School in the Diocese of Venice in Florida is seeking an Aftercare Assistant for afterschool programs, part-time (15 hrs/week).

The role supports students, assists with homework, and maintains a safe, orderly aftercare environment. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, experience with children from Kindergarten through Middle School, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay calm in busy settings; background screening is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Degree or GED or equivalent.
• Experience working with children from Kindergarten through Middle School.
• Excellent communications skills both written and oral.
• Maintain a calm nature in a sometimes-chaotic environment.
• Must pass FDLE Level 2 background check.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during all after-school activities.
• Communicate with parents regarding activities/interactions with students.
• Works with various age/grade groups.
• Aids students with homework.
• Implements age-appropriate activities.
• Monitors safety for students at all times.
• Maintains discipline and decorum.
• Maintains a clean and organized classroom.
• Other duties as assigned.
