Job description

Beth Tfiloh Preschool is looking for an aftercare assistant for our preschool for the hours of 1:00-5:00pm Monday-Friday. In this position the individual provides flexible teaching, and caregiving across all preschool classrooms. They step in to maintain required teacher-to-child ratios, cover staff breaks, and ensure a safe, engaging learning environment for children aged 2 to 5.

Key Responsibilities

• Care for children ages 2-5 years of age
• Build positive relationships with parents, making them feel comfortable leaving their children with reliable childcare providers
• Always keep the safety and well-being of the children their main priority, working in collaboration with other staff to keep the rooms and toys clean
• Implement activities given by lead after‑care coordinator, including crafts, projects, and movement activities/games
• Communicate positively with students and colleagues
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and school events as needed
• Additional duties as assigned by Director

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA (Child Development Associate) credentials preferred
• Minimum of 1 year working with children in a licensed childcare facility or preschool setting
• Background Check: Ability to pass a mandatory state criminal background check and fingerprinting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• High school diploma required; coursework or credentials in early childhood education a plus

Key Skills & Physical Requirements

• Ability to change classrooms, age groups, and tasks multiple times per day with a positive attitude
• Capacity to stand, sit on the floor, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds frequently
• Ability to take quick directions from lead teachers and verbally brief parents at pickup when needed
