Job summary

The Boys and Girls Club of Garfield seeks a Youth Development Professional (YDP) to deliver structured afterschool enrichment for K–12 students at a Blue Door Academy site in Garfield, NJ. Working up to 17.5 hours per week, you will implement approved activities with fidelity under the Site Director's supervision.

You will maintain a safe, engaging environment, track attendance and outcomes, ensure licensing compliance, and support positive youth development through data-informed practice.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of professional experience in youth development, education, or human services.
• Experience working with small groups in PreK–Grade 5.
• Preferred: Experience with Boys & Girls Clubs of America or similar youth-serving org.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead programming meeting licensed childcare standards.
• Work to ensure Club programming aligns with Garfield School curriculum.
• Ensure a safe, structured, and engaging environment that supports positive youth development outcomes.
• Track attendance, program participation, and member outcome data; use data to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure full compliance with all applicable licensing, regulatory, and organizational standards.
• Maintain facility safety, cleanliness, and operability; complete daily safety checks.
• Implement and enforce all organizational policies, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
• Serve as a Mandated Reporter; report suspected abuse or maltreatment as required by law.
• Maintain accurate and confidential staff and member records.
• Maintain DCF, BGCA and DOH standards.
• Ability to actively participate in youth activities; lift to 25 pounds; stand and move throughout the facility.
