Prospect Schools in Brooklyn seeks an After School Track & Field Coach for the spring season. Lead training sessions across sprints, jumps, and throws; prepare athletes for meets; foster a culture of personal growth and team pride.

The ideal candidate has coaching experience with youth, knowledge of event-specific techniques, and a commitment to safety. Afternoon/evening availability; CPR/AED and concussion training required before start.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience coaching students ages 10-18.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must obtain and maintain CPR/AED certification prior to the start of the season.
• Must obtain and maintain concussion recognition training prior to the start of the season.
• Must pass a pre-employment background investigation.
• Demonstrated interest in education and youth development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead structured training sessions across sprints, distance, hurdles, jumps, and throws.
• Teach event-specific technique including start mechanics, baton exchanges, jumping form, and throwing fundamentals.
• Design progressive training plans to build speed, endurance, power and flexibility.
• Organize warm-ups, event rotations, time trials, and cool-downs for every session.
• Supervise students and manage attendance during practices and games.
• Lead tryouts and communicate results to the Athletic Coordinator.
• Ensure safety checks and coordinate logistics with the Athletic Coordinator.
