Job summary

Towne Square Academy - Riverdale is seeking an energetic Afterschool Teacher to work with our school-age children, ages 7 to 13, in a structured, positive, and fun environment after school. This role focuses on supervising and engaging children, planning activities, supporting homework, and building strong relationships with students and families while prioritizing safety and positive behavior.

Compensation is $14.00 to $15.00 per hour for a part-time schedule, Monday through Friday,

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED required
• At least 2 years of childcare experience
• Experience in a licensed childcare environment preferred
• Ability to work Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM
• Background screening requirements
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage children ages 7 to 13 during the afterschool program
• Create a safe, structured, positive, and welcoming environment
• Plan and lead age-appropriate games, activities, projects, and enrichment experiences
• Support homework, reading, and other academic activities as appropriate
• Build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear expectations and boundaries
• Encourage teamwork, independence, responsibility, and positive peer relationships
• Use positive guidance and age-appropriate behavior management strategies
• Communicate professionally with families, coworkers, and school leadership
• Maintain a clean and organized program space
• Follow all school, health, safety, and applicable childcare requirements

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can connect with school-age children while providing the consistency and structure they need.

Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• At least 2 years of childcare experience
• Experience working in a licensed childcare environment preferred
• Ability to work Monday through Friday, approximately 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM
• Ability to successfully complete required employment and background screening requirements
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

No degree or additional certification is required for this position.
