Job summary

EmBe is seeking a SAC Assistant Teacher in Sioux Falls to support the delivery of a safe, engaging before- and after-school program, working with the Site Coordinator to create a fun, inclusive environment where children build friendships and life skills.

The role involves guiding arts, STEM, reading, homework help, and enrichment activities, while ensuring safety, documentation, and positive social development for children in a structured setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in school age care preferred.
• Must be 16 years of age.
• General knowledge of children’s growth and development.
• Flexibility, reliability, and cooperative work habits.
• No substantiated history of child abuse or neglect.
• No felony conviction in past five years.
• No staff names on the sex offender registry.

Responsibilities

• Reflect EmBe brand, mission, vision, and values in interactions.
• Support a well‑rounded program with arts, STEM, games, reading, and homework help.
• Create a safe, welcoming environment for children.
• Supervise and engage with children during indoor and outdoor activities.
• Foster teamwork, inclusion, and respectful interactions.
• Assist in developing self‑regulation and social‑emotional skills.
• Prepare activities promoting learning, creativity, and hands‑on involvement.
• Ensure safety and follow licensing requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment indoors and outdoors.
• Serve daily snacks and document meals as required.
• Maintain staff‑to‑child ratios and report staffing needs.
• Complete attendance, incident reports, and logs.
• Communicate with families at arrival/departure and share day highlights.
• Stay current on required trainings and development.
• Support overall program operations and other duties as assigned.
