Job summary

Windham Public Schools seeks a Program Assistant for its Family & Community Engagement/ Before/After School Program. The role involves supporting providers and teachers during arrivals, coordinating staff and volunteers, and ensuring smooth program operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with school aged children preferred.
  • Able to be physically active with and engage youth.
  • Experience with urban settings and diverse populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist program providers and teachers during student arrival.
  • Maintain communication and coordination among staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain an inventory of program supplies and materials.
  • Facilitate transitions during program hours.
  • Observe programming and record student response.
  • Reinforce the homework policy by visiting classrooms and ensuring students are completing homework or reading a book.
  • Foster the development of family and community partnerships during programming hours.
  • Relay and report any student or parent concerns in a timely manner.
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned by the site coordinators.
