Job summary

YMCA of Central New Mexico is seeking an After School Program Staff member to supervise children in a School Age setting and deliver activities aligned with YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

You will supervise groups, plan developmentally appropriate activities, attend trainings, ensure safety and program standards, and build positive relationships with families across several Albuquerque locations. This role emphasizes inclusivity and community engagement.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
• Previous experience working with children, preferably in a School Age setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire.
• Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a group of children.
• Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Ensures program standards and safety procedures are followed, including medical and disciplinary procedures, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Greets and maintains a positive relationship with parents, children and staff daily.
• Performs general housekeeping duties and follows cleaning checklists at each location.
• Assists in planning and preparing creative learning centers and materials.
• Participates in Annual Fundraising and promotes inclusivity for all children.
• Adheres to YMCA policies including dress code, punctuality and electronic usage.
• Follows policies related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.

Overview

The After School Program Staff provides direct supervision of a group of children in a School Age setting. This role provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

We have openings across several locations, including MAS Old Coors, Tomasita, Sunset View, HB Horn, Matheson Park, and MAS Yale. Applicants are encouraged to indicate their preferred location(s); however, placement will be based on qualifications, availability, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a group of children.


• Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values.


• Attends staff meetings and trainings.


• Ensures YMCA program standards and ratios are met and safety procedures are followed, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.


• Greets and maintain a positive relationship with parents, children and staff on a daily basis.


• Responsible for general housekeeping duties. Checklist for cleaning is located at each location.


• Assists in the planning and preparation of a creative learning Establishing centers of interest, and preparing needed materials and supplies.


• Participates in Annual Fundraising.


• To be inclusive to all children's ability to participate in group activities.


• Adheres to YMCA's policies and procedures involving dress code, punctuality and use of electronics.


• Additional duties as assigned.


• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc...

• Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.


• Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching and lifting.
