Job summary

Montrose Recreation District is seeking an After School Program Assistant to lead and assist students in enrichment activities such as academic assistance, team sports, arts and crafts, and group games. The program takes place at various locations including the Montrose Field House and Pomona Elementary.

The ideal candidate will have experience in elementary education or childcare, strong leadership skills, and the ability to promote character and healthy lifestyles. Compensation ranges from $17-$18.50/hour.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in an elementary education or childcare setting is preferred.
• Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification.
• Capacity for moderate to heavy lifting and working in various weather conditions.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for leading and assisting enrichment activities including academic assistance, team sports, arts and crafts, and group games.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following are examples of primary duties assigned to this position. Other related duties may be assigned.

• Leads and assists students to safely and actively participate in a wide variety of enrichment activities
• Exercise authority in problematic situations with children; utilizing guidance and disciplinary procedures as directed by the Site Leader.
• Promote academic success, good character, citizenship, and healthy lifestyles.
• May be trained to perform additional job duties on different days for special events.
• Plans and facilitates activities for program participants.
• Participates in staff meetings and training as needed or required.

Position Qualifications

Experience

• One (1) year of experience in elementary education or childcare setting, preferred.

Certifications

• The possession of or ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• The After School Enrichment Program takes place at the Montrose Field House, Pomona Elementary, and Johnson Elementary.
• Program hours are from 3 pm-5:30 pm 2-3/days per week.
• Primary functions may require maintaining the physical condition necessary for walking, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods. This position will require moderate lifting, and heavy lifting on occasion, and working indoors and in outdoor weather conditions, on occasion.

Compensation and Benefits

• After School Program Assistant 2 Wage Range: $17-$18.50/hour
• Free Membership to the Community Rec Center after 30 days of hire.
