Job summary

Derby Academy is seeking enthusiastic, talented, and dependable Music Instructors for the After School Music Lessons program. Instructors will provide private instruction in Piano, Voice, Guitar, Drums/Percussion, Brass, Woodwinds, and Strings to Kindergarten through Grade 8 students, primarily weekday afternoons.

Responsibilities include developing individualized lesson plans, maintaining records, collaborating with school staff, and encouraging recital participation.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency on primary instrument or voice.
  • Private lessons or classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with children of varying ages.

Derby Academy Is Seeking Enthusiastic, Talented, And Dependable Music Instructors To Join Our Growing After School Music Lessons Program. We Are Currently Accepting Applications From Instructors In The Following Areas

  • Piano
  • Voice
  • Guitar
  • Drums/Percussion
  • Brass
  • Woodwinds
  • Strings

Our private lesson program serves students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 in a supportive, student-centered environment. Instructors work individually with students to develop strong musicianship, technical skills, and a lifelong love of music.

Responsibilities
  • Provide engaging, high-quality private music instruction.
  • Develop individualized lesson plans based on each student's age, experience, and goals.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment.
  • Communicate professionally with families regarding student progress and scheduling.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and lesson records.
  • Collaborate with Derby Academy staff to support the success of the music program.
  • Encourage student participation in optional recitals and performance opportunities.
Schedule
  • Flexible weekday afternoon and early evening hours.
  • Instructors may teach one or multiple afternoons per week based on availability and student enrollment.
  • Lessons generally take place between 3:00 PM and 6:30 PM.
Compensation

$37.50 per 30 minute lesson

Requirements

All candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S.A. and must satisfactorily complete all background checks as required by Massachusetts law.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency on your primary instrument or voice.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred (private lessons, classroom instruction, collegiate teaching, or community music programs).
  • Ability to work effectively with children of varying ages and experience levels.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field preferred, though exceptional performers and experienced instructors are encouraged to apply.
  • Successful completion of all required background checks prior to employment.
