Job summary

Albemarle County Public Schools Extended Day Enrichment Prgm is seeking an EDEP Assistant for Brownsville Elementary for the 2026-27 school year. This part-time role runs 4 hours daily, 10 months per year, supporting the after-school program and assisting the Head Teacher.

The EDEP Assistant helps with daily tasks, leads preplanned activities, assists with events, maintains professional relations with staff, and ensures a safe, welcoming environment for students.

Qualifications

• Ability to develop and maintain an empathetic attitude toward students; willingness to learn instructional/management techniques.
• Ability to communicate and develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Must be high school graduate or hold equivalence of a high school diploma and be willing to seek and maintain CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher with daily tasks.
• Instructs students in preplanned activities as required.
• Assists with any activity and special event as needed.
• Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relations with ASEP staff and school staff.
• Exhibits positive public relations.
• Upholds school rules, policies, and procedures.
• Prepares and distributes snacks as needed.
• Provides care for students in ALL EDEP venues (Student Holiday, Spring Break and Inclement Weather programs)
• Participates in EDEP programs (After School Program, Student Holiday, Spring Break and Inclement Weather programs) as assigned
• Maintains a safe work environment; Establishes and maintains high standards of behavior.
