Job summary

Arc Broward seeks an Afterschool Counselor to support children with developmental disabilities in a year-round after-school program at Bright Horizons School in Deerfield Beach. The role offers an engaging, varied day helping kids learn and grow through fun activities, under caring supervision.

Hours are weekday afternoons with additional days on early release and planning days; compensation is hourly at $20.60 with benefits and a team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional experience with children (preferably with developmental disabilities).
• Positive, compassionate, and supportive person.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supervision, care, and teaching to children.
• Ensures a safe, stimulating, nurturing and therapeutic learning environment.
• Provides basic care in hygiene and toileting as needed.
• Engages children in fun, meaningful activities.
• Assists children to manage their behaviors through prevention strategies and crisis-intervention techniques.
