Job summary

The MJCCA in Atlanta is looking for an After School Counselor for its Club J program. This part-time role offers afternoon hours, providing a fun and engaging environment for children in Pre-K through 5th grade.

Counselors will supervise activities, assist with homework, and ensure the well-being of the children. Ideal for high school seniors or college students interested in education. Experience with children is preferred!

Qualifications

• Experience working with children ages 5–12 preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred (not required).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and actively engage with children in assigned groups.
• Assist students with daily homework and academic support.
• Lead and participate in activities such as arts & crafts, sports, and STEM projects.

About Club J

Club J is the MJCCA’s dynamic after-school program serving more than 220 children annually in Pre-K through 5th grade. We are seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and creative individuals to join our team as After School Counselors.

This is an excellent opportunity for high school seniors participating in Work-Based Learning (WBL) or dual enrollment programs, as well as college students or aspiring educators interested in gaining hands-on experience in child development, education, recreation, or youth programming.

Our counselors help create a fun, safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive after school.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and actively engage with children in assigned groups
• Assist students with daily homework and academic support
• Lead and participate in activities such as arts & crafts, sports, STEM projects, dance, and team-building games
• Support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of all children
• Maintain a safe, organized, and structured environment at all times
• Assist with transitions between activities and adapt to schedule changes as needed
• Follow Club J curriculum, policies, and MJCCA procedures
