Job summary

iCook After School in Chino Hills, CA is seeking instructors to lead after-school cooking classes for elementary students (K-4). Classes occur Fridays for 10 weeks, starting mid-September, with class time 3:30-4:30 PM and arrival 15 minutes prior.

Job description

iCook After School is an innovative educational company that provides a really fun, hands-on after-school cooking and nutrition education program for children age K-4. The focus of the program is to enrich the lives of children by teaching them to love everything about food – cooking, eating delicious and healthful dishes, and learning about different cultures and stories behind the food.

What You Will Be Doing

• Lead after school cooking classes for elementary students (K-4) while getting them excited about trying fun and creative recipes, new foods and encouraging them to learn about new cuisines and cultures
• Teach provided lesson plans related to basics of nutrition and healthy eating to kids in a fun and engaging way
• Introduce kids to basic cutting and measuring techniques, food safety, table manners and other concepts provided in the curriculum
• Purchase groceries for each class based on the recipes provided (we reimburse separately for the groceries)

• Experience working with large group of kids (can be in school setting, summer camp etc.)

• Punctuality and reliability, with access to a reliable form of transportation

What Your Schedule Will Look Like

• Classes will be held once per week on Fridays for 10 weeks this fall, with programming starting mid September
• Class time is from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. Instructors are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of each class.
• Pay: $60 per class (1 hour class time) when working with a co-instructor and $80 per class when teaching independently. This rate accounts for approximately two hours of total work per class, including preparation and clean-up.
• Classes will be held at Loving Savior of the Hills Elementary School in Chino Hills, California

Requirements

Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire to meet school partnership regulations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and move throughout a classroom setting during program instruction.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and kneel as needed during program setup, instruction, and cleanup.
• Ability to regularly lift, carry, and transport program materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to load and unload program supplies from a vehicle, as applicable.
• Ability to travel to assigned program locations.

Salary Description
