Job summary

The YWCA of the City of New York invites applications for a part-time Cooking Activity Specialist in Hell's Kitchen, delivering engaging after-school curricula aligned to DYCD COMPASS/SONYC guidelines. You will design sequenced lessons using UbD, incorporate SEL and trauma-informed practices, and collaborate with school partners to showcase student learning.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate degree or 18 credits in education or related fields, with 1–2 years of youth program experience, strong

Qualifications

Associate degree or 18 credits in education, Youth Development, Arts, STEM, or related field.
Minimum 1–2 years experience delivering activities to school-age youth in after-school or OST settings.
Experience with project-based learning, UbD, SEL integration, or similar curriculum frameworks.
Familiarity with inclusive practices for children with diverse needs (IEP/504/IAP accommodations).
Strong classroom management, planning, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver sequenced units and lessons using UbD that integrate DYCD content areas.
Develop objectives and assessments tied to UbD transfer goals.
Create hands-on activities that spark curiosity and expose students to new thinking.
Infuse SEL, trauma-informed practices, and culturally responsive approaches.
Differentiate instruction and apply UDL to meet diverse needs.
Align activities with DYCD COMPASS/SONYC requirements and program goals.
Lead a culminating curriculum showcase to demonstrate student learning.
Maintain a positive, safe learning environment with strong classroom management.
