Job summary

Horry County Schools is seeking an After School Child Care Worker for Seaside Elementary. You will supervise children daily, engage in planned activities, and support the site supervisor with routine duties.

This role runs under a 180-day schedule and reports to the After School Child Care Site Supervisor. Applicants should have a High School Diploma, strong communication skills, and a CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and parents.
  • Knowledge of child development appropriate to age group.
  • Certification in Red Cross first aid and CPR/AED.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily supervision of children and plan/participate in activities.
  • Arrive on time and remain for designated hours.
  • Assist with hygiene needs and with assignments/activities.
  • Support site supervisor with daily services and reporting.
  • Coordinate planned activities as directed by supervisor.
  • Refer discipline issues to the site supervisor.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions for afterschool program.

Job Summary

Provide continuous supervision and interaction with the children and to plan and participate in activities for small groups on a daily basis.

As designated by the school administration

Essential Duties
  • Arrive promptly and remain for the specified time.
  • Supervise children constantly, never leaving them unattended.
  • Assist children when necessary with hygiene needs.
  • Assist children with assignments and activities.
  • Assist the site supervisor with providing all daily services and reports.
  • Coordinate planned activities as determined by the site supervisor.
  • Refer serious discipline problems to the site supervisor.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions related to an afterschool program.
Other Duties

Performs any other related duties as assigned by the site supervisor.

Physical Requirements

The position will require numerous physical demands while working with children. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have to stand, walk, bend, run, stoop, lift, etc. The following are some of the physical demands of the job.

  • Physically capable of lifting 40 lbs
  • Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students and to participate in activities
  • Able to be active for an extended period of time
  • Able to hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone
