Job summary

Apollo After School is seeking a caring Behavior Support Educator to provide individualized support for school-age children, including neurodivergent learners, in the DC area. The role focuses on positive, strengths-based approaches to help children participate in activities and routines after school.

You will collaborate with our after-school team to support transitions, peer interactions, and emotional regulation, while maintaining confidentiality and a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience with school-age children.
• Experience supporting neurodivergent children preferred.
• Experience with autism, ADHD, developmental or sensory needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized behavioral, emotional, social or sensory support.
• Support neurodivergent children to participate in after-school activities.
• Assist with transitions, group activities, and peer interactions.
• Recognize signs of sensory overload or dysregulation and respond calmly.
• Use positive behavior support, co-regulation, and visual supports as appropriate.
• Help children build self-regulation, communication, social-emotional, and problem-solving skills.
• Maintain a calm, predictable, and inclusive environment.
• Collaborate with Site Director, educators, and leadership.
