This is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring educators or for those who love working with children. This is a part-time, seasonal, non-exempt, non-benefited position. After-school programs are open Monday-Friday from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. (earlier start on early release days). Approximately 15-20 hours per week.**Duties and Responsibilities:*** Supervise up to 20 students in a classroom setting.* Facilitate homework, recess, and other activities.* Present lessons from provided classical curriculum.* Utilize appropriate child guidance and classroom management strategies.* Model and instill Great Hearts 9 Core Virtues (responsibility, perseverance, integrity, honesty, courage, citizenship, humility, friendship, wisdom).* Follow standard operating procedures to ensure high quality programs.* Follow all licensing rules and regulations per AZDHS.* Follow protocols for responding to and documenting student behavior and significant events.* Escalate incident reports and significant events to supervisor.* Substitute at another campus when needed.* Other duties as assigned.**Required/Preferred Education:**Some college preferred but not required. Must meet qualifications for Teacher/Caregiver in accordance with Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of Childcare licensing. Lead Teachers must have 3 months of experience in a qualifying setting or a degree in education/related field. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. First aid/CPR certification preferred but not required.**Required/Preferred Skills:**The successful candidate will be a principled, professional leader with an independent work ethic and a heart of service to others. They must demonstrate sound business judgment and wisdom in dealing with people. Preference will be given to those candidates who have worked in a licensed program. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.**Physical Functions:** Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. Running, jumping and other rapid movements may also be required.
