Job summary

Manchester Youth Development Center (MYDC) is seeking an Assistant Teacher to create enriching after-school experiences for young learners. You will assist the Lead Teacher with lesson delivery, support daily activities, and foster a safe, inclusive classroom aligned with early education standards.

Requirements include an associate’s degree in ECE or related field, 2+ years in early childhood, and clearances. Certification in PA ECE Pre-K–4 preferred or obtainable within a year.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in early childhood education or related field required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Certification PA ECE Pre-K–4 preferred or able to obtain within 1 year.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an early childhood setting.
• Clearances (PA Child Abuse, Criminal Background, FBI) obtained.
• CPR and First Aid certification current or obtainable within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Support Instructional Delivery by assisting Lead Teacher with lesson plans.
• Facilitate learning through whole-group, small-group, and individual activities.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, developmentally appropriate classroom.
• Prepare and organize learning spaces and materials.
• Model pro-social behavior and support social‑emotional learning.
• Engage in play-based learning to build literacy and numeracy skills.
• Supervise children across settings and ensure safety.
• Support daily care routines including meals and snacks.
• Document attendance and observations per DHS and Pre‑K Counts.
