Job summary

Henderson Haven, Inc. in Florida operates the Free 2 Be Me after-school program for individuals aged 3–21 with developmental disabilities. CTA1 staff promote independence and provide one-on-one support to help students achieve academic, social and life-skill goals.

As a Creative Training Assistant Level 1, you will help with daily activities, snacks, personal hygiene, and community engagement, while documenting progress and participating in field trips and trainings.

Responsibilities

• Review individual Information Sheets to understand goals.
• Ensure health and safety of individuals in your care.
• Attend all mandatory trainings.
• Read and understand company policies.
• Support and adhere to Vision and Mission statements.
• Clean and organize work areas.
• Assist individuals with academic, social and life-skill goals.
• Assist with snacks and meals.
• Assist with recreational activities.
• Help individuals with personal hygiene needs (toileting, diaper changes, clothing, bathing, hygiene).
• Document progress on daily report.
• Attend field trips.
• Report injuries/incidents.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

The after-school program at Henderson Haven, Free 2 Be Me , serves individuals 3 through 21 with developmental disabilities and/or behavioral issues, and provides a safe place to work on school homework, academic and social goals, and to just have fun. Our low staff to student ratio allows us to give everyone some one-on-one time and to make real progress in reaching the goal of an independent life of true choice and inclusion. __

Free 2 Be Me __ staff are considered Creative Training Assistants Level 1 and play an intricate role in helping those we serve reach their full potential.

OVERVIEW:

The job of the CTA1 is a vital part of fostering independence in the lives of the individuals we serve. Each CTA should be aware that every shift should be utilized to promote further opportunities to teach new skills, build on those already present, and to connect the individuals to their community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review individual Information Sheets to fully understand the goals of the individuals we serve.
• Responsible for ensuring the health and safety of the individual in your care.
• Required to attend all mandatory training scheduled.
• Read and understand all company policies.
• Support and adhere to the company Vision and Mission statements, and company philosophies.
• Cleaning and organizing work areas.
• Working with supervisor in assisting individuals with working on their academic, social and life skill goals.
• Assisting individuals with snacks and/or meals.
• Assisting the individuals with recreational/leisure activities.
• Assisting individuals with personal hygiene needs which may include:
  • Toileting.
  • Diaper/Pull-up Changes.
  • Clothing Changes.
  • Bathing.
  • Hygiene Activities.
• Assisting with and/or documenting the progress/work on each of the individuals on the daily report.
• Assisting with and attending field trips.
• Reporting to supervisor and documenting any Injury/Incident Reports.
• Any other duties assigned related to job.
