Job summary

Solutions Through Innovative Technologies, Inc. (STI-TEC) in the Dayton, OH area seeks an experienced AF SIM Modeler to provide Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis support to U.S. DoD programs.

You will design, build, and execute AFSIM-based scenarios to assess performance, CONOPS, and mission outcomes for government stakeholders. Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret clearance; Top Secret/SCI preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 2–5+ years of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) or MS&A for DoD or Intelligence Community programs.
  • Hands‑on experience using AFSIM for scenario development, analysis, or model configuration (e.g., entities, weapons, sensors, tactics).
  • Familiarity with scripting or programming (AFSIM scripting, Python, MATLAB, or similar tools) to automate runs and post‑process data.
  • Ability to interpret and model operational concepts, threat laydowns, and system characteristics from government documentation and SMEs.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and briefing skills, with experience presenting technical results to government customers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance; current active Secret or higher strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Translate operational concepts, requirements, and threat environments into executable AFSIM representations and analytic runs.
  • Develop and modify AFSIM behaviors, parameters, and configurations to evaluate system performance and warfighting effectiveness.
  • Use scripting and AFSIM tools to automate scenario execution, parametric studies, and sensitivity analyses.
  • Work closely with government analysts, operators, and system engineers to define study objectives, measures of effectiveness, and required outputs.
  • Analyze simulation outputs, generate visualizations, and prepare briefings and reports that clearly communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support verification and validation of models and scenarios, including documentation of assumptions, limitations, and data sources.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, user guides, and contract deliverables (CDRLs) in accordance with customer standards.

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) Modeler to provide Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) support to U.S. Department of Defense programs. The selected candidate will design, build, and execute AFSIM-based scenarios and models that assess system performance, CONOPS, and mission outcomes for government stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting AFLCMC, AFRL, or other Dayton-area DoD organizations on MS&A tasks.
  • Background in air, space, or multi‑domain operations, electronic warfare, or command and control modeling.
  • Experience with C++ or other compiled languages used to extend or customize AFSIM components.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Excel, or similar).
  • Prior experience working as a government contractor delivering technical reports, briefings, and CDRLs.
Work Environment and Travel
  • Position is primarily on‑site at government or contractor facilities in the Beavercreek/Dayton, OH area, with limited telework as authorized by the customer.
  • Occasional travel (up to ~10%) to customer sites, test locations, or program reviews may be required.
