Job summary

BCforward is looking for an AFS Project Accounting Specialist to support the Project Accounting function in Arlington, VA. This role requires interpreting contracts and setting them up in Deltek CostPoint.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience with government contracts and strong communication skills. The position offers the chance to work closely with project managers and stakeholders while ensuring contract compliance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a U.S. Federal government contractor environment.
• Proven ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Experience with GAAP, CAS, and FAR.

• Utilize CostPoint project setup module and basic revenue recognition.

Role Title: AFS Project Accounting Specialist

Work Location: Arlington, VA

Description

This individual will support the AFS Project Accounting function within the Controllership organization. They will read and understand AFS’ contracts and appropriately set up contracts in Deltek CostPoint based on their knowledge of CostPoint and AFS’ business. They will also work closely to coordinate with Project managers and other stakeholders to ensure agreement on key contract terms and conditions for Project setup.

Role Responsibilities

• Interpret contracts utilizing CostPoint and deep industry knowledge
• Utilize CostPoint project setup module and basic revenue recognition for all types of contracts (T&M, FFP, CPFC)

Required Skills

2+ years of experience in:

• Reading and interpreting government contracts (FFP, T&M, and Cost Type)
• Deltek Costpoint, providing project setup/accounting support in a U.S. Federal government contractor environment
• Strong communication and organization skills

Preferred Skills

• Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management
• Experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Government Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)

Education Level

Bachelor’s Degree or 4+ years of full time applicable experience.
