Job summary

Navy Region Southwest Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) is seeking an Afloat Recreation Specialist to plan, coordinate, and direct comprehensive afloat recreation programs aboard Navy ships. You will work to deliver leisure activities for crew members and embarked personnel, including coordination with ship sports, budgeting, and program administration.

Successful candidates will deploy with ships during underway periods, support social events, and help manage recreation resources and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the principles of recreation.
  • Budgeting, internal controls, cash management, and fiscal oversight.
  • Marketing and promoting sports, recreation and leisure activities.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations and trainings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, organizes and directs recreation and leisure programs for shipboard personnel.
  • Deploys with ship during underway periods.
  • Co-manages intramural and varsity level sports with the Afloat Fitness Specialist.
  • Administers ticket rebate and ticket sales programs.
  • Operates recreation equipment checkout program and gear locker.
  • Organizes and facilitates shipboard recreation social activities.
