Job summary

Fuller Theological Seminary seeks Affiliate Faculty for Professional Doctoral Programs to teach one-week intensives online and in Pasadena, CA. The role requires a terminal theological degree and at least 6 years of ministry experience.

Responsibilities include designing syllabi, building Canvas course shells, mentoring students, and delivering final grades. Position is seasonal, part-time and varies in hours, with opportunities to mentor doctoral projects and support distance learning

Qualifications

• Must have terminal theology degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to design and teach online/hybrid courses.
• Experience with adult learners and diverse contexts.

Responsibilities

• Teach synchronous or asynchronous seminars (two 6-unit sections over 6 months).
• Prepare syllabi and teaching of curriculum according to department goals.
• Build and maintain the online course shells in Canvas for student accessibility.
• Provide a learning environment that supports student success.
• Maintain virtual office hours for each class and mentor students beyond the classroom.
• Ensure timely management and response to electronic correspondence from students and staff.
• Lead forum discussions and engage students in coursework.
• Partner with Academic Advisors to address student concerns.
• Maintain and submit accurate and timely reports for student grades/progress.
• Deliver final grades in accordance with the academic calendar.
• Enforce student conduct policies as outlined in the student handbook.
• Remain current with trends, techniques, and advances in distance learning and theological education.
• Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.
• Additional duties as may be assigned by the school.
• Potentially serve as theological mentor for doctoral projects and dissertations.
• All affiliate faculty, if hired, are required to take Fuller’s Teaching for Excellence course before teaching.
