Job summary

Amentum in Deming, NM seeks Aerostat Operators to provide Operations and Sustainment support for the PSS-T program. You will participate in hands-on operation including launch, in-flight, recovery, and mooring activities, and operate the aerostat ISR platform and associated equipment.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, and an active Secret US Government Clearance; a technical associate degree can substitute.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• A two-year Associate’s degree in a technical field from an accredited college can substitute for work experience.
• Must have an active Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Must have a passport that is valid for at least 6-months; preferably one year.
• Knowledge of and experience in the operations of hardware systems and components.
• Experience in fault detection, isolation, and correction of hardware systems and individual components.
• Ability to perform routine system maintenance and analysis functions including: hardware configurations; adding, removing and replacing hardware components; use of hardware and software diagnostic testing tools; reading of electronic circuit schematics; and repairing printed circuit boards.
• At least one (1) year previous Aerostat experience

Responsibilities

• Participate in the hands-on operation of the aerostat system including launch, in-flight, recovery, and moored activities.
• Operate the PGSS/PTDS aerostat platform, Mobile Mooring Platform, Sensor Payloads, communications and navigation systems, and associated support equipment.
• Perform user-level maintenance, PMCS, troubleshooting, and removal/replacement of LRUs and payloads.

Job description

Aerostat Operators provide Operations and Sustainment (O&S) support for the Persistent Surveillance Systems – Tethered (PSS-T) program. PSS-T is comprised of former Persistent Ground Surveillance System (PGSS) and Persistent Threat Detection System (PTDS) programs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Aerostat Operators/User-level maintainers will participate in the overall, hands-on operation of the aerostat system including launch, in-flight, recovery, and moored activities.
• Candidates will perform all functions to operate the PGSS/PTDS, an aerostat mounted Intelligence, Surveillance, And Reconnaissance (ISR) platform, its Mobile Mooring Platform (MMP), Sensor Payload(s), communications and navigation systems as well as associated support equipment (Boom Lift, Forklift, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV's), and Electrical Power Generators).
• Candidate will perform User-level maintenance functions include performing hands-on Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), troubleshooting, removing and replacing Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), and removing and replacing payloads.
• Candidate must possess a diverse range of skills with the ability to quickly adapt to new situations. Tasks will be performed under direction of higher classified technicians and/or site personnel.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
