Job summary

Steel Tool & Engineering, an aerospace precision machining and fabrication company in Trenton, MI, is seeking a Visual Quality Inspector. The role involves inspecting aerospace components to AS9100 standards, reading engineering drawings, and maintaining meticulous inspection records.

Day and night shifts are available, with hourly pay starting around industry norms and a night premium. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, 2+ years of inspection experience

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints, specs, and work instructions.
• Pass near-vision and color-vision exams required for NDT.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Familiarity with ISO standards and industry regulations preferred.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Ability to pass vision examinations to customer and industry standards.
• Use of an enhanced visual inspection microscope to customer and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspections using microscopes of in-process and finished parts for defects per aerospace standards (AS9100).
• Interpret drawings, specs, and work instructions to determine inspection requirements.
• Document inspection results in records, NCRs, and quality databases.
• Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards.
• Maintain inspection tools and clean, organized work area.
• Support internal and external audits as required.
