Job summary

Metropolitan Associates, LLC. is seeking an aerospace structural analyst to support design teams through detailed stress analysis and validation of components for FAA certification.

You will perform classical and finite element analyses, document results, and help develop tools to improve design processes. Requirements include a BA/BS with 2–5+ years or MA/MS with 0–2+ years in Mechanical, Civil, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering, CAD skills (NX or CATIA), and strong written/spoken

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree with 2 to 5+ years of experience.
  • MA/MS degree with 0 to 2+ years of experience.
  • Degree must be in Mechanical, Civil, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Good analytical skills and problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Support product development teams throughout the design/development process by performing detailed stress analysis and validation of aerospace structural components and assemblies.
  • Successful applicant must have a good understanding of Strength of Materials.
  • Perform structural analysis and simulation using conventional classical stress analysis.
  • Perform structural analysis and simulation using finite element analysis (ANSYS preferred).
  • Experience with non-linear analysis is preferred but not required.
  • Assist in the derivation of component applied loads and aircraft interface loads.
  • Work to pre-established design parameters and requirements to assess the structural integrity of metallic (and occasionally non-metallic) aerospace component parts.
  • Develop and document structural tests to assess the structural integrity of component parts and to validate that all requirements are met.
  • Document the results of the stress/loads analysis in a formal report using Microsoft Word et al, pursuant to obtaining FAA certification.
  • Create informal strength check notes using Microsoft Word et al.
  • Support the development of analytical tools and procedures, with the goal of improving the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the design/development process.
  • Support the evaluation and disposition of manufacturing and/or in-service issues (sustaining engineering).
  • Interface with other functional groups such as Design, Systems, Test, and Liaison et al as required.
  • Resolve general technical issues related to stress analysis and simulation.
