Job summary

ZimZee Recruiting is seeking a Software Certification Engineer in Wichita, KS to support certification of avionics, power electronics and battery systems. You will evaluate, test, and certify safety-critical software/hardware in RTCA DO-178C/DO-254 environments and collaborate across engineering teams throughout the lifecycle.

The role emphasizes embedded software development, testing on target hardware, and comprehensive documentation to meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a tech field.
• Experience with RTCA DO-178C or an equivalent safety-critical process.
• Strong proficiency in C for embedded systems.
• Experience testing on embedded hardware with lab equipment.
• Knowledge of software verification and lifecycle documentation.
• Analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
• Familiarity with RTCA DO-254, FPGA or VHDL preferred.
• Experience with C#, Python, or PC-based development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and maintain software lifecycle documentation per RTCA DO-178C.
• Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot embedded software for microcontroller-based systems.
• Verify software and hardware functionality through functional and structural testing.
• Support certification activities for avionics, power electronics, battery management, cockpit displays, sensing technologies, data conversion and storage systems.
• Develop and execute test procedures to ensure regulatory, performance, quality, and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to implement safety-critical software design processes.
• Utilize modern software development tools, documentation practices, and engineering methodologies to support product quality and continuous improvement.
