Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior Red Team Engineer to probe spacecraft, ground stations, and development pipelines with adversary emulation. You will lead third‑party assessments, build testing tools, and bring an attacker’s perspective to design reviews.

You will work with the Product Security Architect and embedded security teams to harden flight software, ground software, and development infrastructure, ensuring mission‑critical resilience.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship required.
• 3–10 years of hands-on offensive security experience in penetration testing, red teaming, exploit development, or vulnerability research.
• Proven ability to build tools, harnesses, or automation when off-the-shelf solutions won’t suffice.
• Experience chaining multiple weaknesses into realistic attack paths.
• Strong fundamentals in operating systems, networking, and applied cryptography; comfortable reading unfamiliar code.
• Ability to own a technical project from start to finish with minimal direction.
• Excellent communication skills, especially when explaining risk to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Plan and run adversary emulation against spacecraft, flight software, ground systems, and development pipelines using SPARTA and MITRE ATT&CK.
• Identify cross‑boundary attack paths spanning multiple subsystems.
• Lead third‑party security assessments: scope, provide environments, coordinate results with internal findings.
• Design and build fuzzing and automated testing capabilities to enable continuous testing with every release.
• Reverse engineer firmware and protocols; analyze embedded interfaces and cryptography implementations.
• Participate in design reviews to illustrate potential attack vectors before build.
• Co‑chair the product security incident response process and coordinate fixes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to fix root causes and train peers to think like attackers.
