Job summary

KBR seeks a Quality Engineer to support NASA programs, overseeing flight hardware QA across the project life cycle. This role emphasizes supplier surveillance, process review, and compliance with contractor requirements to ensure mission success.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of quality engineering experience, NASA/aerospace background, and hands-on inspection expertise, including PCBs, conformal coatings, and harness work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years quality engineering experience.
  • Previous NASA or aerospace industry experience.
  • GMIPS for Electronic Boards.
  • 100% conformal coatings on flight PCBs.
  • Final workmanship inspection prior to box level final closure.
  • Experience with harness work on NASA projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that flight hardware anomalies, corrective actions, and re-verifications are documented in accordance with the contractors’ non-conformance and corrective action system.
  • Participate in production planning, review manufacturing flow plans and participate in MR&R and TRRs.
  • Examine process design and/or process qualification records, procedure review, work order review, and verifying labs carry required certifications.
  • Review flight hardware records and ensure all open items are identified and addressed prior to tests.
  • Monitor contractor quality and safety controls, and participate in QA activities during fabrication, integration, and tests QAR monitoring.
  • Support activities related to root cause corrective actions.
  • Support processes for collecting and analyzing data that measures supplier success.
  • Review the supplier’s CDRL documents related to quality assurance and provide recommendations.
  • Review flight hardware records for completeness prior to integration & final acceptance testing.
  • Perform a final instrument “buy-off” review.
  • Complete thorough inspections.
