Job summary

PPG's Aerospace division seeks a Process Engineer to support aerospace rework and repair operations in Sylmar, CA. This onsite role focuses on defining standardized workflows for intake, inspection, rework/repair, documentation, training, and release of repaired hardware for service or overhaul.

Responsibilities include developing and updating procedures, applying engineering drawings and data, training technicians, and driving continuous quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related STEM field.
• 3+ years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, repair/rework, overhaul, or other regulated industrial environments.
• Experience developing SOPs, work instructions, and training materials.
• Ability to read and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
• Familiarity with inspection methods, MRB/nonconformance handling, and quality systems in a regulated environment.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, military, overhaul/repair, or AS9100-regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
• Working knowledge of AS9100, FAA, DoD, or customer-specific quality requirements preferred.

• Train technicians on repair and inspection processes and support deployment of standardized methods across sites.
• Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement in repair quality, turnaround time, and repeatability.
• Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Operations on inspection criteria, MRB/nonconformance support, traceability, and configuration control.
• Travel (up to 20%) to support training and deployment of standardized rework and repair processes across sites.

PPG's Aerospace Business is seeking a Process Engineer to support aerospace rework and repair operations in Sylmar, CA. This onsite position focuses on defining and sustaining standardized processes for intake, inspection, rework/repair, documentation, training, and release of repaired hardware to ensure components are returned in a serviceable and compliant condition for downstream overhaul or use.

Key Responsibilities

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $90,000 – $105,000. Annual bonus opportunity up to 7% of base salary.
