Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Savannah is seeking an Aircraft Performance Engineer II to join the Flight Sciences team. You will analyze and predict airplane performance across takeoff, climb, cruise, descent, and landing, and support performance databases used by avionics and onboard software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 18 months of relevant experience in aircraft performance, flight sciences, aerodynamics, propulsion, or related discipline.
• Ability to apply first-principles engineering methods to analyze technical problems and interpret results.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
• Experience with engineering analysis tools such as MATLAB and/or Fortran.

Responsibilities

• Perform aircraft performance analyses for all flight phases including takeoff, climb, cruise, descent, approach, landing, and mission performance.
• Use computer-based methods and tools to evaluate performance for new development and in-service fleet.
• Analyze flight test data to support development, validation, and expansion of performance databases.
• Prepare and maintain performance data for AFM, OM, and other operational docs.
• Contribute to performance databases used by avionics and software for onboard calculations.
• Support certification activities with analyses and documentation for FAA/EASA and others.
• Respond to internal/external customers regarding published performance data and methods.
• Enhance and maintain performance analysis tools and develop new capabilities.
