Job summary

Chromalloy is hiring a paint and coating technician for our Windsor, CT facility. This role will apply coatings using gravity-fed handheld spray guns in confined spaces, perform masking, preparation, and quality checks in accordance with drawings and work instructions.

Qualifications

  • Must have HS Diploma or GED.
  • Strong shop mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and fractions.
  • Previous painting and/or powder coating experience using handheld spray gun preferred.
  • Detailed masking experience preferred.
  • On the job experience of 3-5 years in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, read and interpret blue prints.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be fluent in English, (speaking, reading, writing).

Responsibilities

  • Spray coating application with gravity fed handheld spray gun in confined space using rotating shop stand.
  • Responsibilities including mixing, thinning, priming, baking, painting, drying, etc.
  • Monitor coating application and coating adherence per work instructions, and customer specifications.
  • Perform tasks including masking/prep in accordance with work instructions and customer specifications.
  • Ensure even coating is applied to parts and as directed by traveler.
  • Performs all work in accordance with plant safety rules and maintains highest quality standards in the execution of all assigned work.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on all paint booth, cure ovens, and other routine labor work as required in accordance with production flow.
  • Maintain and clean painting equipment and tools.
  • Follow proper waste disposal procedures for hazardous materials.
  • Operator prepares necessary quality documents and confirms quality of own work using inspection tools in accordance with product specifications, blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Operator to adhere to all 5s / CPEX policies and to have a continuous improvement mindset.

This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs. This may include work during evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non-exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions. We evaluate each candidate individually to ensure fair and competitive pay decisions.
