Job summary

Hytek Finishes in Kent, WA is seeking an Aerospace Paint Assistant on 2nd shift to prepare parts for painting, lay parts on screens, and move them through paint booths and ovens. You will sand parts and may join FAA DOT drug testing programs as required by FAA/OEM specs.

The role requires reading and writing in English, dependable attendance, and ability to lift and work safely around fumes and chemicals. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

  • Pre-employment and annual physical exam required; ability to wear a respirator.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with experienced Painters and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks.
  • Follow shop traveler, technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced Operators and Department Leads.
  • General review of paperwork to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
  • Prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning.
  • Prepare parts as called out in Purchase Orders and Tech Cards.
  • Perform inspection, measuring, and testing or part surfaces as required.
  • Maintain paint guns and paint booths ensuring cleanliness at the close of shifts.
  • Perform pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Follow Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Follow safety precautions as trained.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

Title: Aerospace Paint Assistant

Reports to: Shift Supervisor or Value Stream Manager

Location: Kent, WA - onsite

Type: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Schedule Type: 2nd Shift

Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. Normal Shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)

Salary Range for position:

$ 19.30 - $ 28.80. The pay range and total compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to your relevant experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other employees. Position Summary

Employees in this position will prepare a variety of parts in order to apply paint and primers. Paint Assistants will also lay parts out on screens, transport loaded screens in and out of paint booths/ovens, and sand parts. Paint Assistants may be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program*. Paint Assistants perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications.

* FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial pre-employment drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing.

Education & Experience
  • 1-2 years in a manufacturing environment a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • Temperature fluctuations based on outdoor conditions.
  • PPE required: safety glasses/goggles, aprons, rubber boots, gloves, respirator (provided by company).
