Job summary

Delta Black Aerospace is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design of the RAIDER 330 airframe and subsystems, from CAD model through fabrication. You will partner with propulsion, electrical, and systems engineers to deliver a field-survivable Group 3 UAS and ensure robust airframe performance.

Responsibilities include 3D CAD modeling, FEA, composite layups, and leading manufacturing support, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 3+ years of aerospace/defense/UAS experience.
• SolidWorks CAD proficiency; strong composite materials experience.
• FEA experience with FEMAP/NASTRAN or equivalent.
• GD&T and engineering drawing standards knowledge.
• Ability to translate design to manufactured hardware.
• Comfort in a fast-paced startup defense tech environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze airframe structures and propulsion mounting systems.
• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Perform structural analysis including FEA, load paths, and fatigue.
• Spec composite layups and bonded joints for aerospace use.
• Lead manufacturing support and integration with other subsystems.
• Develop and execute mechanical test plans and document results.
• Manage BOMs, assembly procedures, and configuration control.
• Collaborate on VTOL lift systems, E-STOL landing gear, and payload interfaces.
• Support failure investigations and corrective actions.
