Job summary

Poseidon Aerospace in the San Francisco Bay Area is hiring a Mechanical Engineer (New Graduate) to design structural and mechanical systems for our autonomous cargo aircraft. You will work across CAD, FEA, and documentation to bring concepts to flight hardware.

Ideal candidates have a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, CAD proficiency (Fusion, SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX), and experience with FEA tools like ANSYS.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, CATIA or NX) and familiarity with FEA.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis for production drawings.
• Experience with composite and metallic fabrication methods is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Design aircraft structures, mechanisms, and tooling using CAD software.
• Perform FEA to validate strength, stiffness, and load paths in components.
• Create detailed part/assembly drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Design linkages, control surface mechanisms, and mounting systems.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
• Support testing and validation of structural systems, including fixtures and rigs.
• Maintain CAD libraries and configuration management for assemblies.
• Provide design feedback to improve manufacturability and structural efficiency.
